Did you mean:

an open apology

I've come to the self-realization that many (maybe even most) of my responses lately have been either negative, inflammatory, condescending, or any combination of the above.  I shall endeavor to become a better NI Forum citizen.

By no means have I read all your posts, but generally speaking I've been in broad agreement with them.

It's all in the wording.  It's not whether or not the opinion is right or wrong; it's all in how you present it.

For example, instead of:

"Didn't you bother to read any of the posts above???"

Why not:

"The answer was already given in the some of the posts above this one."

I've been doing much more of the former, not enough of the latter lately.

Tell you the truth, I was comparing my responses to Cross's posts and realized just how far away from the mark I'd wandered.

Comparing to Tim is not the worst metric in the world.  Unless you mean in style of dress.  (Tim I might just get that "A" if you change that shirt [a very inside joke that you would need to read a few thousand posts to get and not many poeple have access to all of them])

The point being, we are all human.  We are also a community.  Contribute at a level that is comfortable to you and meets your goals and needs.  I have nothing but respect for today you my friend.

Hey, a thread about netiquette. Very good!

Yeah, at times i get the feeling that my answers would get "rude", i simply stop posting. Even though post are "unfinished" by that, i think it is better this way compared to repell newcomers by using rude terms (like RTFM and such)......

And of course, answering the very same questions over and over again does recall "Sisyphos":

Don't worry about it.

While some of us tend to get heated a bit quickly at times, anyone who shows a willingness to learn / adapt is always welcome around here.  At least in the 12 or 13 years I've been on this forum it has always been that way.

So despite the occasional slip, we don't hold grudges.

Spoiler
If you wanted to be nasty, you'd claim that with each year, memory degradation of our veteran participants prevents the ability to hold grudges anyway.....
