Each time i build a exe file (application), i am prompted to 'find the VI named "not found dialog.vi" ' after trying to run the .exe file.
I am following the following instructions including the specific example files mentioned:
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3303
Ive gone as far as to install 8.5 and now dumbfounded to find that i can then build the exe and it works without a problem. The only difference is that i am building the labview8.5 examples rather than labview8.6\examples. Id swear this procedure is not even new as was the way it worked all the way back to 5.0.
What is going on?

to be clear
I am performing identical steps in both versions of labview.
The two versions are 8.5 and 8.6
I installed 8.5 on the same comptuer that 8.6 resides on.
in addition.
It is not just the one VI that is not found.
If the error is ignored, it goes on to hang on on the next VI that v8.6 is looking for.
I would perfer to use 8.6 since it is what the VI is currently written in.

Building an executable in the old pre-project days was quite different. 😉

Are you building a program found in the example finder? If so, which one? Please provide more information
Have you tried to repair the LabVIEW installation?

This isnt really that helpful.
like i said earlier.
I am doing this specific example step by step.
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3303
but it gives an error.
It works in my 8.5 install but not 8.6.
These are both virgin installs.
It would be silly to have to repair them with 20hrs of use.
Labview is so slow to install, Im just going to have to reimage them i guess.
Anyway, i do appreciate you checking in.
I wanted a second option that no one had heard of this problem before i reformat/ reimage.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I have built the example from the link in 8.6.1 and did not encounter any problems. I did not see any relevant 8.6.1 bug fixes so most likely something is not right on you end.
Good luck!
