cDAQ Module Question

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I currently have the following hardware:

-cDAQ-9178

-NI-9401

-NI-9219

I am using the NI-9401 module to drive PWM output signals as calculated by a PID controller to two controlled thermal systems.  I am using the NI-9219 module to measure temperature, as sensed by thermistors.  These temperature values are used in my PID controller to calculate error.

I am now interested in measuring a number of additional temperatures on my device using thermocouples (these temperatures are only to be observed - no controller action based on them).  The 9219 module is great for my PID controller, as I can use it to sense highly accurate thermistors, but it only has 4 inputs.  I am considering adding an NI-9213 Module to my setup to enable the additional monitoring that I need...  My question is the following - Will this module be compatible with my setup?  i.e. can I run two analog modules(9219 & 9213) simultaneously?  Is it reasonable to attempt to do PID control and this additional temperature monitoring simultaneously?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Cheers!

Hello JB_1,

What is are describing is definitely both reasonable and feasible with the hardware you have.  The 9178 has multiple analog input timing engines, so you can set up separate tasks for the two different modules if you wish to acquire simultaneously and at different rates.
