can't load labview 7.1

I have 6i installed and I also loaded 7.0 student version with no problem.But when I load the 7.1 upgrade CD it gives me errors during the install steps.(ie can't load core essentials). I am running xp with service pack 2 .Any sugestions will be helpful

Thank you for posting to the NI Discussion Forums!  I suspect that the problem here is that you are attempting to install the LabVIEW 7.1.1 maintenance release which is designed to upgrade you from LabVIEW 7.1 to LabVIEW 7.1.1.  However you need to have 7.1 installed before you can install the 7.1.1 upgrade.  The major releases of LabVIEW (such as 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, 7.1, 8.0) all ship on separate standalone CDs that require no components from prior versions of LabVIEW.  You will probably need to locate the full LabVIEW 7.1 installation CD and start from there.  Once 7.1 is installed, you can then install the maintenance release for LabVIEW 7.1 (this will “upgrade” you to 7.1.1).  If you still receive errors during this please post with the _exact_ error message received with a screenshot of the error if possible (<ctrl><alt><printscreen> ) .
