change apperance of controls

Super stuff. smercurio's solution while elegent I am not sure will work for me, as the resize takes all available space. I intend to have this open on a maximised window, but I want the width of the bar to be restricted. smeserve's solution seems to allow me to resize each dimension independently. Thanks for your help there guys.

Been trying to get this working and I am having a problem. It would seem that the slider does not allow me to overwrite  the value for it's height. I can create the slider, I can right click on it and bring up the property node for the width and height, but the option to change all to write is disabled. I have attached the vi as it stands, I'm sure it's some bogus, simple, moronic mistake on my part. Thanks

Ah, no, please ignore my simplicity. I had selected from bounds, not housing size. All good now I think
