clad confusing questions...help!!!

Hi,

I am appearing for Clad exam just 3 days after today. So I thought to give a try at LabVIEW online practice test (fundamenals exam). I scored 32 out of 40 correctly, but I was expecting above 35 😞 :(( . I have made a compilation of some select questions and I request you to please point me out if there are any mistakes in the answers of the questions I gave during this practice exam.

It would also be helpful if anyone gives me a suggestion on how to crack the CLAD.

If anyone has special compilation of material for this exam, I request you to please mail it to me at p_d5009 (at) rediffmail.com

Thanks

Waiting for feedback 😞

3 days from now is Sunday...

5: B - this is the same as the "Running Average" example that ships with LabVIEW. The expansion of the shift register returns the previous value(s).

8: C - you can just code this up and see for yourself.

9: I'd guess E mostly because I'm picky about language and terminology, and both are somewhat vague in this question.

10: C - again, just code this up and see for yourself

12:  I'd like to know NI's definition of "Simple" vs "General" VI !!! I've never heard of these terms, nor do they make any sense.

18: D - this is a trick question since it's trying to confuse you based the automatic error handling option for LabVIEW

22: C

25:  B - Have I mentioned recently how much I hate the Feedback Node?

26: B

34: C - If a 12-bit board can do it, then clearly a 16-bit board can as well. Note that the question wasn't what the minimum requirement was.

35: A - again, just code this up and see for yourself

37: A

Note: 10.jpg has the question cut off.

My best advice is to take the online practice exam as many times as possible.  It is extremely good for preparing for the CLAD, in case you may see some questions on the CLAD that are very close to the questions you see in the practice exam.  As far as questions that you aren't sure if you answered them correct, the best way for you to learn is to research the question and find the correct answer, hopefully understanding why it is the correct answer in the process.  You can post specific questions here and will receive feedback, but it would be more beneficial to you if you do some work trying to figure it out first.  Goodluck!

Why not do the questions that have pictures in LabVIEW and see what you get :smileywink:

Question 34:  If I did my math correctly, a 12 bit system has a resolutionof 2.44 mV at 10 V range.  So if a 12 bit system can detect it, then definatly a 16 bit can, so it is prob C.

pdwiz,

I took a quick look through the questions.  I'm not sure about #9 or #34, but I'd pick those answers.  For questions #8 and #10, you just need to look at the offset constant to get the right answer.  For # 12 I'd say the answer is Simple VI.  All the rest look good.  Good luck on your test.

Just some advice.

1. use context help and LabVIEW Help.

2. Practice

3. Practice

4. Practice

I practiced the online exam a few times and read through my labview basics course book.  I also skimmed through the labview manual.  The test wasn't difficult at all though.

Hi,

Thank you all for your feedback. I got my mistakes of running avg and offsets in string vis yesterday only, but was still unsure about other questions, your feedback was so valuable. I am giving exam on Monday and I have prepared for CLAD from CBT and NI ppt seminars. Are these materials sufficient for cracking CLAD?

Thanks 🙂

I would like to attach one "sample" CLAD exam which is different frm ni site which was sent to me from one ni employee.....

After seeing this exam, I am not so sure now if CLAD is simple like to compare with the fundamnals exam......this sample exam contain some really tough questions which i heard for the first time! for eg. q9: thread safe-unsafe one.......

If this is the type of question I should expect in CLAD, please do inform me .........

thanks

I would not have gotten #9 if it had been on my exam either, but as others have suggested, you really need to research these questions before asking  for the answer to be given to you.  You will learn sooooo much more by opening LV and experimenting.  Place a "Call Library Function Node" on a diagram and play with it to see what causes it's color to change.  If you do that you will remember the answer much better than if it is just given to you.  Good luck on your exam!
