What should be the optimum com port settings for RS232 serial communication? I am using labview 6i and the o/s is windows 2000?

That depends on the instrument or devices you're communicating with. You will need to know the required baudrate, data bits, parity bits, flow control, etc.

Chris is right.
It depends on your instrument.
