configure icon missing from tdm excel importer add-in

Solved!
Go to solution

I have downloaded and installed TDM Excel Add-In for Microsoft Excel Version 3.5.1 from this link https://www.ni.com/en/support/downloads/tools-network/download.tdm-excel-add-in-for-microsoft-excel....

The user guide http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4906/en/  says "...click on the symbol Configure TDM Importer."  I am using Excel 2010.  I do not see an icon for Configure TDM Importer.  All I see in the add-in ribbon is the Import and the About.  I have tried un-installing, re-installing, rebooting, deleting the add-in then adding it back in.  Still don't see the Configure icon. When I click the import icon I only get the file open dialog.  Can anyone offer any suggestions?  Is there a dedicated support forum for this add-in?   Thanks in advance!

You need to import a file to view the configuration glyph

Ah... Thanks Jeff.

The importer does not seem to show scaling properties, though.  Do you know anything about that?  I created a TDMS file with "LabVIEW 2013\examples\File IO\TDMS\Scale TDMS Data.vi" and I don't see scaling information when imported usind the TDM Excel Importer.  When you open the same file using the TDMS File Viewer vi. the scaling properties are shown.

Write them as explicit properties of the group or channel? I haven't. tried but it sounds doable

The importer suppresses scaling information from DAQmx because most of them can only be used in the context of DAQmx.

The actual imported data is already scaled by the importer.
