conflict with DAQmx Device drivers on sbRIO

Solved!
Go to solution

I am running LabView 2019 on a Windows 10 Pro computer which is connected to an sbRIO9628. Both have NI DAQmx 20.1 installed but on severela instances (Pin layout, Testpanel, etc.) I am receiving an Error -88716 because of a DAQmx incompatibility. The error essage states: incompatible driver NIDAQmx Device Driver 20.1.0f0.

One version difference I notice is the following:

Althought both the host PC and sbRIO have DAQmx 20.1 installed, the host PC has DAQmx runtime and DAQmx runtime configuration assistant installed as version 22.5 with no possibility to downgrade.

I deinstalled DAQmx on the host several times but there seems to be no option to prevent the runtime version 22.5 to be installed when I reinstall DAQmx 20.1.

I deinstalled DAQmx on the sbRIO and reinstalled but the same version is installed with no options to upgrade.

I followed the instructions given in the knowledge base: https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z000000kH3dSAE

but even downloading the offline DAQmx installation starts the routing package manager on my host PC which states that there's nothing to change and DAQmx 20.1 is installed on my computer.

Any ideas to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

DAQmx 22.5 is compatible with LabVIEW 2019. Try to install DAQmx 22.5 on both the host PC and sbRIO.

Unfortunately version 20.1.0 is the only one I can install and there is no update option available (from within NI MAX). Cheicking for upgradable software on the sbRIO tells me that there are no updates available for my system. I tried deinstalling and re-installing DAQmx before with no effect.

As some additional information: There's Linux RT System Image for Q2 2020 installed on the target sbRIO. There are options to update this to versions 21.5 or even 2022 Q3 but I wonder if it would be safe to update this.

It is safe to do so.

You need to use 2022 Q3 in order to use the DAQmx 22.5 driver.

I had for other reasons reset the Linux RT System to default. Upgrading thereafter solved the issue.
