customize fuction generator

Is there any way to put custom singal type ioto a function generator or
load data of a waveform stored in a file into a function generator?

I am using Labview 8.

Yes you can

look at example VI's shipped with LabVIEW.

Look at following examples:

• arbitrary waveform generator.VI
• and one more VI that reads a waveform and generates an analog output ( I forgot the name of this VI   and curently I do not have LabVIEW on my system to refer and tell)
