daq assistant

I've built a control model in a simulation loop using Labview 8.5.1 and the Control Design Simulation Module and am not trying to impliment a physical system. The "Introduction to Labview in 3 Hours for Control Design and Simulation" talks about a DAQ  Assistant in Measurement I/O > NI-DAQmx but I can't find this anywhere. Has this changed in 8.5.1 or is there something I don't have installed (and if so, what is it so I can get it installed)?

Thanks,
Brian

Are you sure you have DAQmx installed?  It would be on your Device Drivers CD or DVD.

What operating system are you using?  I don't think Macs have the ability to use DAQmx.

No I'm not. I'll try installing the device driver CD again.

I'm using XP. I went back and installed DAQmx from my drivers CDs and I've got a DAQmx base pallet under measurement i/o, but still no DAQ assistant. Any thoughts?

Hi bcglaxer,

What version of DAQmx do you have installed?  You can figure this out by going into Measurement and Automation Explorer and going to the software tab.
