You can have two versions on at the same time. Therefore, you can install LabVIEW 6.1 without uninstalling LabVIEW 5.1. However, if you are building DAQ applications, you want to make sure you have the compatibility VIs for LabVIEW and DAQ for both versions.

Its possible to have 5.1 and 6.1 at the same time.
Labview code written in one version might not be executalbe in other versions.I have had problems with instrument drivers when upgrading.
