editing the runtime icons

I am curious on how to edit the runtime icons on the top of a vi.  For example, in order from left to right there is an icon for "run", "run continuously",  "stop", etc.  I noticed on some vi's there aren't any "lightsbulbs" so you can see the signals.  Is this something that the user can control.  The example vi called TCP Communicator - Active is one such vi that does not contain that indicator.

You can disable debugging on a VI, which will remove the Execution Highlighting (the "lightbulb"), Step Into/Out of/Over functions, probes, and Pause.  This setting is accessed through File > VI Properties > Execution.

For completeness: 😉
  • These buttons also disappear if you set the VI to subroutine priority.
  • Prior to LabVIEW 8.0(?), these buttons also disappeared if a VI was set to reentrant. (LabVIEW 8.0 can debug reentrant VIs).
