fault condition indicators for gearbox

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,  I was given some files to read and perform signal processing to estimate 4 fault condition indicators for a gearbox. I was also asked to perform frequency analysis using advanced techniques. I used labview for the first time this week and need to understand how to go about this.

WIll really appreciate some help for both the fault indicators and frequency analysis

It doesn't sound like LabVIEW is your limiting factor.  Don't even look at LabVIEW just yet.

Instead, figure out your algorithm.  Nothing you said will allow anyone to help you.  This means you likely don't understand the problem.

How many signals are you reading?

What defines a fault condition? (In other words, how would you measure a fault?  Is it a fault if it exceeds a threshold?  Is it a fault if it's changing too quickly?  Is it a fault if it's not changing?)

What frequency analysis are you expected to do?  Is there an operational need for any specific "advanced technique" or is that your way to say you want something more than just seeing what the frequency currently is?

Thanks, i think you are right. Still confused with what I need to do here. I'll do more read up to really understand what I have on my hands
