font problem

Excellent.

I recommend just keeping a backup copy of your project folder so you can have something to go back to in case the script messes something up.

Run it a few times on a few controls before going crazy to make sure you are getting the control properties that you want copied over.

Hi

Unfortunately the "square bug" did it again !! after correcting most of the labels by using RavensFan scripting, I modified the software and recompiled it again ! Then, awful square things did appear again. I am now thinking that the Application Build might be at fault !! so, maybe is of no use to upgrade to LV 200..

I am still waiting for a solution from the NI !!! (other than paying for an upgrade which might not solve the problem !!); but it seems to me that NI AE are busy makingnew versions instead of repairing old ones

Hi Nitad,

As already said in a previous post, this has not been corrected because we are not able to reproduce the issue from scratch.

Please call the French Technical Support (+33 1 57 66 24 24) and ask for opening a support request, and point KB 4Z7BPBUB to the engineer who will help you.

He would be able to give you a "solver", which should be more or less the same as done by Ravens.

Unfortunately, we do not have other solutions for the moment.

Thanks for your comprehension.

Hi

Thank you for your answer. Sorry but that is not a "solver"

I already contacted NI and I already got a (pseudo) solution. After building again the exe, after some time, I get again the square problem   (you can see why I call this a pseudo-solution). I am not ready to spend all this time with "pseudo" solvers

Now I am considering upgrading to LV9 -even though I don't like being forced to do so- IF and only IF the LV8.6 is the problem. What if the Application Builder is the problem ?

I am looking for a solution to this and I am ready to switch to the english speaking version if this is the origin of the trouble.

What do you think ?

As I proposed earlier, I can make tests for NI in order to help solve this problem..

[speaking of french system, I wonder if this would fall under the "vice caché" rule.... i don't want to start making calls to DGCCRF to find that out  ]

I don't know what all that means.

I also don't know what the root cause of this issue would be.  I imagine it is somehow related to your french OS.  Do you use some font on your OS that doesn't exist on another computer?  What is your default Windows font?  It could be a very difficult thing to find out what the root cause is.  You say "after building again the exe, after some time, I get again the square problem".  After how much time?  If you don't get the problem right away, what eventually causes it?  Do you get the same problems if you do your development on a different PC?  It would probably be worthwhile to do your development on an English PC and see if you get a problem.

hi ravens,

the "vice caché" means, in the french system, that if a fault exist and it was not apparent to the buyer, then the seller must refund the expenses. i am very frustated about this.. (The NI support sent me a file in LV2009 although I don't have LV2009 and this bug is supposedly not existent in LV2009...)

By "after some time" I meant that this problem does not appear all the time, only from time to time but ALWAYS after I am making an exe (the vi is corrupt after making maybe an exe in 4 or 5 ?)

I removed most of my fonts from the system : I tried Arial, Times, Courrier... nothing changes

This problem appeared on only one PC : french XP, SP3;

I removed everything from it, it is not even on a network now, to prevent viruses and so on. The funny thing is that the square replacement is irreversible and if I copy this vi on another computer, I still have the vi with the squares.  Another funny things is that if I repeat the building of the exe, sometimes -scarcely- the squares are replaced by other fonts (readable, so I don't care).  Another point is that it appears on only some of the labels on the diagram and FP although all fonts are supposed to be the same. I will reinstall LV in english (although I  am not sureabout that licences)... I am pretty sure it is related to the Application builder and I don t want to spend all that money for nothing (I found ridiculous to purchase another 4 licences of LV just because some squares appears..).

As I proposed earlier, a patch would be, if an LV font could be created and made default !

thanks again for your help !

We have been having the same problem after we started using LabVIEW 8.6.  It doesn't happen all the time, but nothing seems to trigger it, and there isn't anything we can do to make it go away.  We have .exe files we've built that work fine on one computer, but when transfered to one with XP sp3, we get corrupted characters on the front panel, even in the Menu.  Other times we notice it right after we build an application, with the computer that has the development environment on it.  We are scratching our heads over this, and it is quite a pain.

Now this happened to me too.

I work with LV 2010 SP1 on Windows7, 32 bit. a few days ago I noticed it first in an EXE, that some controls had that asian font. I fixed it with restarting LV, then building the EXE again. Today I built an EXE with this problems again, restarted LVand after this I even have corrupted fonts in my block diagram.

I want to mention, that I aborted the build process before I built the first EXE, because I forgot to change a little thing. Then I restarted the build again.

To illustrate the problem that I have, i printed a documentation of this block diagram. It is fully attached as ZIP file. Have fun as I will Smiley Mad

We actually spent hours rebuilding an application that kept coming out with chinese characters and squares over the front panel.  One time the squares, one time the chinese font.  Kept rebuilding and would still have problems, even after quitting and restarting LV.  After restarting my computer it seemed to do the trick.  Seems to be a font problem.  It does transfer between computers when you build an exe with the problem font.
