front panel sizing

Hi,

Win2000, LV7.1

This problem is driving me nuts.

I wish to make a 1024x768 front panel using a jpg image created in photoshop. My monitor resolution is set to 1024x768 and the vi properties changed to allow panel to become full screen, no scroll etc.

Curiously the only way I can get anyway near full screen is to drag the image as close to the left/right sides as possible. However the final placement of the image is dependent upon the position of the windows scrollbars before the vi is run !. So if I use the scroll bar to move half of the image across the screen, that is where it appears when the vi is run.

I wonder what actually defines the extents of a front panel ?. I tried this with a panel made from labview decorations but still had the same effect.

Cannot find any other reference to this problem in the forum.

Any ideas ?

Thanks, Pat

"What you see is what you get" typically applies.

You might want to trim the front panel to the exact extent of your objects. Easiest would be to use the free OpenG toolkit. It has a tool to "fit VI window to content".

altenbach,

Thanks for a quick reply.

"Trim the front panel" does that mean I can set the panel dimensions or boundary ?

At the moment I would be happy just to have the panel centered automatically but that does not work either.

Cheers

Solved,

The link to sourceforge was very useful. Downloaded the apps folder and ran the vi. Works a treat.

Now why couldn't LV do the same thing out of the box....

Many thanks for your help.

Cheers

Have you tried messing with the options window size, if you have not go to file/vi properties/ set category to window size and then select what you want. If you have tried this then disregard this message.

Hello,

thanks for the information above.

I have a problem using the VI: when I place the subVI 'Fit VI Window To Content' in my block diagram without wiring it (so it should affect on the current VI) the window size changes to a format in which not everything is displayed.

Does somebody know what is wrong in the attached VI?

Thanks, Jaco.
