I think the first question was How to create character set file?

I didn't see a direct answer, so: Go to Start>Programms>National Instruments>Vision>OCR Training

But if it's allready answered...forgett it

A usb webcam is used, image should be colorized. Also can translate color image to 8 bit using the "IMAQ cast image"(Vision and motion-->inage management-->IMAQ cast image) .do it by software.
