how to navigate robot

I face a problem
I got compass telling me the robot direction
I got infra red sensor telling me the obstacle location
I need to navigate my robot from 1 place to another place ? how to do it
I got problem handling the compass as the reading taken from compass to my pc is quite slow...
I plan to use my inital x,y and final x,y position to calculate the angle and distance required to travel and send the command to the VI i create which allow the robot to move but cannot work
 
anyone got any good navigation idea?

Hi willy88,

Could you provide some more information about the project?  You said it is not working currently - what is the behavior you are seeing?  What are the values you receive from the compass?  How do you control the robot?  A few more details would help in order to understand what you are trying to do.
