im trying to open a locked vi from 7.1 in labview 8.6

Hi im trying to open a locked (published) vi from labview 7.1 in 8.6 and 2009. I get the error message below. will I need to get an opened version of the vi. labview error.PNG

That error message indicates the VI was saved with no block diagram, not that it's locked. LabVIEW cannot load a VI from a previous version if there is no block diagram because the block diagram contains the actual code. You have to get the original VI. There is no other way.

Im afraid that is correct. You must have a backup of the original VI to recover the block diagram.

Incidentally, "remove block diagram" is a legacy feature of LabVIEW. It is a little before my time, but I believe LabVIEW 7.1 was the last version to have this feature.

You can still remove both front panel and block diagram. To do this you have to make source distribution in project explorer. But my advice is. DO NOT DO IT. Use password instead. But NEVER password your "master copy" of your code 😉



Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)
