image stacking

Dear all, I've got a very random question regarding image stacking acquired by a telescope.  As I'm new in the world of astronomy some of you might be able to help me out a bit better...  Basically, if you look at for example the moon (just as a basic example) you can record the image by using a webcam (in my case a Philip ToUCam) and take it apart in separate images. There are programs out there (for example RegistaxV4; free available) which can stack images to create a very sharp single image of in this case the moon. This often needs to be filtered as vibration of warm and cold air influences the recordings etc.  As I'm getting completely confused using Registax I was wondering if there is an easy way of creating a program in LabVIEW (or Vision) to tear a .avi file apart into separate images and to stack them together to create a single image. Perhaps a separate section of filtering images for Gaussian/un-Gaussian noise? Was wondering if there is a template to start from, as I'm not into Vision... Best, Patrick
