impact test

hi, im trying to perform a simple impact testing of a cantilever beam and to obtain the FRF and mode shape of the structure.

i'm completely new in both vibration and labview, i have no idea where to start. i have done some search on the forum for VI that can help but most of it return with an error that something is missing in the VI, im suspecting this is mostly because of the older version of labview im using in the university.

im hoping that someone can provide me some simple guide or assistance on the labview.

Equipments: (all this equipments are provided by the university)

labview 8.2.1 (fall 2007)

PCI 4474

kistler accelerometer and impact hammer

THANKS....

Hi hapa,

welcome to Labview.

You are new to Labview and Vibration ? You hope to find help for developing a modal analysis tool here ?

Smiley Very Happy

Some starting points:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modal_Analysis

https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/product/labview-sound-and-vibration-toolkit.html (Sound and vibration toolkit = n000.00$)

I'm pretty much sure that NI still offers "Campus Licenses" for Universities.

Maybe you should get in contact with NI and try to get a newer LV Version including the "Sound and Vibration Toolset"

If not Smiley Indifferent Have fun.

Your task is not trivial and I guess there are not a lot of people who did such things in LV, allowed (or willing) to share the knowledge in this forum.

(I did compareable things http://www.gunt.de/download/TM182_english.pdf http://www.gunt.de/static/s1744_1.php?p1=0&p2=&pN=search;Volltext;pt%20500 but I'm not allowed to share this here !)

Best regards,

Balze

Hello,

I'm trying to implement an impact test.

My FRF is OK (I have some desired FRFs graphs and they are the same as the one i'm getting) but i'm having a little of trouble when i try to identify the modes. It takes too long and probably it will never finish.

I'm using LV 2009 and this VIs:

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/6121

Any other ideas?

Thanks

hi, thx for ur reply. but unfortunately the uni give me a older version of labview that y i cant use that vi.

attached is the vi that i modified using the example code from NI, but i cant seem to get some of the results that i need. I hope that someone can help me out. the vi title is TESTING TESTING and include some of the results in jpeg too.

first, is the sensitivity of the equipments. can i know where and how should i set it?

second, i cant get the FRF's phase in a correct manner.

third, both real and imaginary part of FRF that i obtain doesn't seem correct

hope someone can take a look on my Vi and suggest me some correction...

thanks
