install error - labview 2009 run-time

I have tried everything in the MS Bullentin with same results.

Let me know if there is anything else that I should try or what the next step is?

Have you tried installing any other software other than National Instruments software? Does that work?

If that doesn't work, we're probably at a point where you will have to reformat your computer and reinstall Windows. This is never a popular choice but it would probably save more troubleshooting time.

Have you tried installing any other NI software? If not, try downloading and installing the NI-VISA driver.

Also, what software were you able to successfully install?

Take care!

I did try to install the visa program "visa462full.exe" with simiilar error message (see attached error message that popped up).

I was able to install non-NI program "Spybot - Search & Destroy" download link:

does this tell you anything?  Do you think my only option is to re-install complete windowsXPsp3?

Are you installing from an administator account, or a user with full privileges?

Has any NI software ever been installed on this computer before? It may be worthwhile to go to Add/Remove software and look for National Instruments. You could also check your Windows Registry for a National Instrument item. Open the Registy Editor selecting Start»Run... and type regedit. In there look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER»Software»National Instruments. Remove any National Instruments items.

Can you also try installing something like Firefox?

Again, we can spend more time troubleshooting but it could be faster to re-image your computer.

I installed Foxfire just fine.

I did clear out an entry for NI software.  I also ran the uninstaller for NI and removed everything.  Then I checked the "programs" folder for any NI folders and deleted one finding.

Last, I re-installed the runtime but still got the same error message.

Would it be any use to send you a copy of my registry?  Please send me your email if that would be a help.

Regards,

Ben B.

One other thing.... I don't have any NI software installed on the computer.  Only previous attempts at installing the runtime.
