instr.lib vs. other location

What is the best location for Instrument Drivers?  I know that instr.lib has some advantages - they show up on menu's.  However, the drivers are tied to a PC harddrive but with a network drive multiple people can use them.

Thanks

Hey Mark,

Obviously we reccomend the default location of the instr.lib, but I just tested out a vi on a network, and it caused no problems sharing. You would just have to use the Select a VI... option when using the VI in a network folder. Besides that, it should work fine.

If anyone has other suggestions on the outcome, I would be interested to hear them.

Hi Guys,

I would like to tate the lid off this topic again for a bit.

Is there a way to make Labview (2009) point to a different 'instr.lib' directory than the default one on the local drive?

I experimented with the Tools->Options->Paths menu but could not manage to make it work.

Thanks,

Regards,

Zoltan
