Kind of depends on what you're doing, and what your budget is, which only you can answer. I know that there's plenty of people still working in 7.1 just fine, so it's not absolutely necessary to upgrade to 8.2 if your application runs just fine in 8.0.1.
Are there bug fixes? Yes, but 8.2 brings its own, just like all previous versions have.
Is it better performance? Yes and no. It starts up faster, but people have noted that the development environment can be slower in certain cases, and sometimes built applications are slower. This is all anectodal, so you should consider it that light.
Will your application still work in 8.2? Most likely yes. I only encountered one minor problem in upgrading my application from 8.0.1 to 8.2, and I had over 1200 VIs.
