Hi Mark,

you marked a LVLIB before activating the context menu. In the context menu you see all options you can create in a LVLIB - so the image is perfectly fine.

Next time please don't put the full message body text in the title. Descriptive titles are much easire to find when somebody searches the forum!

Best regards,
GerdW

Gerd,

Thanks for the response. This is my first time posting so I am unsure of the best practices.

I dont fully understand your response. With the instructions provided by our lecturer i should have an option to select NEW > I/O SERVER from the shortcut menu. This does not appear for me.

i get the options: VI, Virtual folder, Controls, Library, Variable, Class.

I am trying to create a periodic IO server. My project is an Injection moulding machine which has temp, pressure, controls, cycle count, shot count, safety barriers etc. I have the VI pretty much done. I now need to get the project section completed and create the various HMIs for user, management, engineering .

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

the context menu (aka "right-click menu") si sensitive to the item you do the click on.

Right now you clicked on that LVLIB item and you get the options available for LVLIBs.

When you want to create an I/O server you need to right-click the "my computer" item in the project tree:

Notice the currently selected item!

Hi Mark,

then you either have a limited/different LabVIEW version or you don't have installed all parts of LabVIEW needed to provide "I/O Servers"…

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi Mark,

why don't you ask your lecturer? (S)He should know such things…

Also your school/company should provide you with an appropriate installation of the LabVIEW IDE!

Best regards,
GerdW

We are doing an online course. We are not full time students. I have been trying to get this working for the past week to no avail.

Could you please give me a list of what i should have downloaded and i can check against what i have. i am using labview 2013, plus the DSC module 2013.

i have been removing and reloading these programs but have not made progress. See the fault code i have been getting on occassion.
