lcr meter bias voltage

Is there any "vi" available for lcr meter through which we can control the bias voltage of lcr meter??

I want to make a vi which measures the impeadance of device for different bias voltage using the labview 7.0.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Suggest that you first identify manufacturers and models that can vary the bias. Then find out if a vi or driver exists.

I am using the hp4284A LCR meter. It has the labview drivers but I cant find the vi in which we can control the bias voltage that can be applied. The LCR meter has the bias voltage as one of the parameters that has to be set before we start measurements.

Do you know anything about it??

Why don't you try the one called HP428XA DC Bias Level.vi. I haven't tried it but the name sure sounds like its the one you wnat.

Thanks for your immediate reply.

I saw that visa and when I run that visa it doenst change the bias voltage on the instrument according to my settings in the software. So I am not very sure if it exactly the one I want.

What I actaully paln to do is measure the CV characteristics of MOS structure. So I want to measure the capacitance of the MOS structure for differnt voltage. So I want to make a sweep for the perticular range of voltage. For example I made one visa which will do a voltage sweep and return the capacitance Vs voltage graph. But my advisor said that, i am using the wrong voltage to sweep through. I should be using the bias voltage. I am attaching that Visa here.

So i am not very sure how I should include the dc bias voltage visa here.

You will have to download the hp lcr meter drivers for this.

Do you have the programmers guide to the instrument? The commands you need are probably detailed there.

In the example you posted, you are varying a 100KHz ac signal with no dc offset. If your advisor said you should be using the bias voltage, it sounds like he wants you to vary the dc. If that's the case, you should check with the manual to see whether the function I mentioned actually does that. If it does, then you would replace the function you're using now with the DC Bias Level function and ramp that.

hi

I dont have the programming guide for the instrument.

Dennis, you are right I am doing a sweep on ac voltage which is not right. Moreover the lcr meter I am using does not have the DC voltage more than 2 volts. So now I am thinking of using Keithley 6487 picoammeter as a dc voltage source. I found one vi which takes input the

I forgot to attach the vi that I found and I plan to use as a dc bias for CV curves.

Thank you very much for your help so far.

I put some questions in that vi itself, please do let me know if that will work.
