lv45\lvsource\gencode.c error

Hi everyone,

I am a very new user to labview, so please bare with my questions. I basically have been given a labview program which makes use of 2 frame grabbers to capture and save images from two cameras. This program has been working fine until yesterday when labview started giving me problems, saying that it has performed and illegal operation and will shut down, whenever i start running the program. It gives me an E:\lv45\lvsource\gencode.c at line 1999 error, when I try to initialise certain parts of the program. The system is using labview 5.0. Does anyone have any ideas on what this means and what I have to do to get this working. Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Darsh,

I hope you are doing well! You mentioned that the program was working fine until yesterday after which it stopped working. What changes, if any, did you make to the program? Are you running an executable or a VI? Did you try re-installing LabVIEW? It would be very hard to help you with this issue since NI doesn't support LabVIEW 5.0. Most of the gencode errors are usually solved in the upgrade version of LabVIEW. Is there a reason why you have not upgraded to the latest version? If not, is it possible for you to upgrade?

Hi Adnan,

Thanks for your reply. I am actually running a vi. I know that there are newer versions, but the system was put together a long time ago, not by myself. I didnt make any changes to the vi. But there was a few power surges in the lab where I was running this program. I dont think that would have had any effect on the program because the computer was switched off during the power surges. I have not tried to reinstall Labview. If that is a good alternative to try, then I will do. I did also read it on the NI boards that I should try to recompile the codes, or try clearing the temporary folder and trying the program. Again, I am not sure if it will work. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nita

Hi Nita,

If you have not made any changes to your VI, reinstalling LabVIEW should fix the issue. Can you try running the program on some other machine which has LabVIEW 5.0? You may not need to upgrade LabVIEW, but upgrading helps in making it easier for us to help you since we can run the VI, and replicate the behavior on our side. Let me know how reinstallation goes. Have a great day!
