Did you mean:

making guitar distortion

The "Tube Screamer" was THE distortion pedal to have when I was in high school garage bands.

Its circuit and why it sounded "so cool" is well documented on the internet. Google "Tube Screamer".

Well I first tried creating my simple experiment with the DAQ assistant and with the guitar, the input is fine, but i can't seem to hear an output at the audio out. I will post the VI later ( the myDAQ is at school) so that you can troubleshoot any problem. I used the play waveform to hear the sound. There was a sound but there's noise in it. And an error also occured. (will also post later) .. Can you tell me what to do next after doing this example (attachments)..

Thanks

Hello there,

I'm trying to do the same thing as what you're doing, and I got stuck at the same DAQ assistant problem. I'm just wondering if you've managed to finish the project?

They haven't logged on since 2013.  It'd be more helpful if we knew what YOU had so we could help solve the issue you're running into.

What has worked?  What hasn't worked?  Are you stuck at running the DAQ Assistant?

Hello Natasftw,

Thank you for your response! I'm new here and to Labview. I'm doing a project to design a distortion guitar effect, basically connecting my guitar input signal thru myDAQ. I've done a lot of researched, and I found that distortion is actually clipping the input signal? Previously I had problem with the DAQ assistant connection, now it works fine. I can listen to my guitar sound now. As for right now, I'm confused with what I'm doing. I've been putting the block diagrams together to make it work. Could you pls look at what I have and maybe give me some pointers?

And btw, I got a few suggestion from my colleagues that it's better for me to use DAQmx instead of DAQ assistant... I kinda get how DAQmx works, I'm trying to check the connections and listen to my guitar sound when I connect my guitar to myDAQ. I guess I should use DAQmx instead of the DAQassistant since it is more suitable for the real time functions.
