measuring mV using analog input

Here as an example of what some of these guys have been saying.  I hope this helps.

To setup a "Task" in MAX.

Open MAX

Expand "Data Neighborhood"

Right-Click "NI-DAQmx Tasks"

Click "Create New..."

Select "analog input"

Select "voltage"

Select the desired channel

....

once you have that setup, at teh bottom of the screen there will be sampling rate, and # of samples to read.  you will have to experiment with these values to get your desired results.  I would think for what you are doing you will not need a very fast sampling rate.

I am using LV6.0 and traditional DAQ. Actually my MAX is corrupted and I have tried reinstalling and still it does not work. Can you convert the DAQmx to traditional DAQ. I do have LV7.0 and LV6.1. Thus I can convert LV7.0 to LV6.0. Thanks.

If you have LabVIEW 7.0 it would be good to go to that as it has a number of helpful new tools (vs. 6.x) for DAQ. How do you know that your MAX installation is corrupted? What are the symptoms? I ask because MAX is closely tied to the NI-DAQ code underneath and if one is actually corrupted or there is an installation issue, then the other (NI-DAQ) is also suspect. NI-DAQ is the core of LabVIEW's DAQ with NI boards so if it isn't working right ... NI-DAQ can be downloaded from NI's website (a couple of caveats; it is REALLY BIG >700Mb and there are some older NI devices that won't be supported. I'm also not sure whether it plays nicely with LV6.0).

Actually I have a problem with my PC rather than NI-MAX. This is what I get:

When I RUN MAX AUTOMATION, I get this!

NIMAX has caused an error in RPCRT4.DLL
NIMAX will now close.

I already have enough advice regarding repairing that but I am reluctant as I believe I might mess up. Can anyone change the iniputanalog.vi from DAQmx to traditional DAQ in LV7.0? That would be a graet help.
