mikrotron camera & Measurement and Automation Explorer: reduce fps and control exposure rate

Sometimes I don't read posts carefully the first time, and I apologize.  To clarify, the Vision Toolkit is a part of LabVIEW, though it might be an extra-cost addon.  The Drivers (including IMAQdx) are also part of LabVIEW, distributed on the Drivers DVD -- again, the IMAQdx driver might require an additional license.  Check with NI.

The solution that we used, and that I would propose would work for you, does not involve writing to a Binary File, but rather to an .AVI file, which would allow you to view the videos in a Browser or in Media Player.  If you want to analyze (or otherwise process) the data, you could use IMAQdx functions to read the AVI images back into LabVIEW and manipulate them as images.  On the other hand, if you only wanted to save Image data for analysis, you could use the techniques mentioned in the link in your reply to write a Binary file, but this would pretty much limit you to using LabVIEW to retrieve the data (as it would not be in a Standard Video File format).

Hi Bob,

Both of your comments are very helpful. The Vision Tool Kit is a separate product from National Instruments as some of the IMAQdx functions are not included in Labview. As a first step, it is helpful to know that high speed recording requires an extra tool. Now I understand mostly the logic behind video recording. Thanks a lot!

Best,

Di
