new installation problems

I bought a new computer with Vista and waited for the quarterly update (professional developtment system)to do a fresh (new) install of Labview 8.5
I put in the first DVD and get to about half way and come up with this message:

Error 1922. Service 'Lookout Citadel Server' (LkCitadelServer) could not be deletated.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to romove system services.

I can't get past it. I am running as admistrator and have not labview on my computer before this new install.

Hi Jim,

Let's try the following troubleshooting steps:

Go to Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services. Double click NI Lookout Server. On the General tab, the Startup type should be set to Automatic. Change the Startup type to Manual. (This should prevent the service from starting when the computer is booted.) Restart Windows.

You should now be able to uninstall. If you get the error for any other service, just repeat the above steps.

This was during the initial install not an uninstall.

The error message had "retry" or "cancel". The retry didn't work but pushing cancel let the install continue. Do you know if this will cause a problem in the future?

Hi Jim,

I would try installing again after performing these steps for each service that you receive the error about, like Lookout Server.

"Go to Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services. Double click NI Lookout Server. On the General tab, the Startup type should be set to Automatic. Change the Startup type to Manual. (This should prevent the service from starting when the computer is booted.) Restart Windows."
