Hi,
A simple thing to try is to restart the service. You can do this by opening up the Windows Services window by going to Start » Control Panel » Administrative Tools » Services. In the list of services you should see: NI Service Locator. To restart this service, right-click on the entry and select Stop. Wait a minute until the service has stopped and then right-click and select Start. Restart LabVIEW and see if you still get this error.
If you still get the error go to http://localhost:3580/dumpinfo? and post the report you get on this thread so we may b able to better assist you.

I've recently gotten a new computer and installed LV Professional Developer Suite. Evertyhing seems to be working fine, except when I try to use the Example Finder - I get this same error.
I have tried starting the Service Locator exe from the Startup>>Administrative Tools>>Services - but whenever I click on start it tries to start and then pops up the following error:
"The NI Service Locator service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they do not have any work to do, for example the Performance Logs and Alerts Service."
I previously also created the shortcut to the exe for the .exe and placed that in my start up folder as suggested by one of the KB articles I read on this subject.
Anything else I can try?
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
I would like to get a bit more information so that we can troubleshoot further. Which operating system and version of LabVIEW are you using? Do you have any firewall software running? This problem typically occurs due to a firewall permissions issue, but we can definitely dig deeper if necessary to figure out what is going on here.
