nilm.exe hogging CPU

Are you seeing nilm.exe take your processor time after your laptop comes back from standby or hibernation mode?

If you end up disconnecting your second network adapter often and this become a problem, you can reactive your products to fix this issue.  If you disable the second adapter and check your computer ID again, it will be different.  Use this computer ID to activate all of your products ( you will have to deactivate them first).  For more information on deactivating a product see "How Do I Deactivate or Remove my License for an NI Product?"  Let me know how this helps.

Mine occurred after a system restart after ITunes software update.

The problem surfaced on reconnecting our primary NIC after it was disconnected to resolve communication errors on a second NIC attached to a cFP system.  I terminated the process with Windows Task Manager with no ill effects and then rebooted for good measure.  The problem has not resurfaced.

Hey Dag23 and Pfcm,

Are both of you using volume licenses or local licenses?  If you are not using NI Volume License Manger or LabVIEW Remote Front Panels, we can disable the NILM License Manger Service to keep it from hogging your CPU time.  You can disable this service by performing the following steps:

1. Go to Start » Run, type in dcomcnfg, and hit Enter.
2. Expand the Services tree.
3. Right-click on NILM License manager, and select Stop.
4. Right-click on NILM License manager, and select Properties. Under Startup type, select Manual.

This is an archived forum. I would always recommend posting questions to current threads or starting a new thread so that your questions get answered quickly. To answer your question, you can stop NILM from loading at startup thereafter. Please refer to the instructions in this knowledgebase article. Hope this helps!
