I just wanted to let you know that we are actively looking into why this dll is being flagged and removed by avast! virus scanning.
Also, what versions of NI-PAL and avast! has this been occuring with?

re-installation of labview (now Fall 2013), update of avast av and setting up exceptions in avast - works so far without any problem.
avast version before updating (at the point the problem occured) I don't know, NI-PAL Version was the same as stated above.
Thanks for all helpful advices!

NI-PAL driver comes with other software, like LabVIEW installation. Just reinstall(/repair?) LabVIEW and you should get the right NI-PAL driver recovered as well. Don't forget to add the exclusion in Avast!.
