Creating a DLL in LabVIEW

Complete the following steps to create a DLL from the VI you built.
  1. Open a new VI and select Tools»Build Application or Shared Library (DLL).

but when I go to  "Tools>>Build Application or Shared Library(DLL)" this option just doesn't apperar, Do I have to buy it?, thougth I already had it in my LB package.

Which package of LabVIEW do you own?

It comes with the Professional package.  According to that link, no the Full development of the Basic package.

If you do a Help /  About LabVIEW, the dialog box will show your user name, serial number, and what package you own.  It will also give icons for the various options such as DSC, real-time, FPGA, vision, ....

LabVIEW full Development System

or Developers Suite 2007, or something I think it's the same I'm not the actual owner of the licence but I have to work on LV anyways, i think that package includes it isn't it? I also have the LV Real time Module.

But nothing yet.

Not sure.  The link above says "Note: The LabVIEW Professional Development System includes the Application Builder. If you use the LabVIEW Base Package or Full Development System, you can purchase the Application Builder separately, using the related links below" which would tell me no.  I'm not sure if a "Developer's Suite" means something different.  You may want to check with your local NI sales representative.

I just called my sales representative and he told me that my package does not include application builder, but as I can see in the link you posted that Developers Suite includes EVERYTHING LV can offer, and I do have Developers Suite, but I think application builder is not included anyways.

Thanks for your concern

Hi Zain Zeus,  the developer suit depending on how you configure may or not include some modules, but the core of the developer suit is:

LabVIEW Professional Development System
LabWindows/CVI Full Development System
Measurement Studio Enterprise
LabVIEW SignalExpress
Database Connectivity Toolkit
Internet Toolkit
VI Analyzer Toolkit
Express VI Development Toolkit
PID Toolkit
Report Generation Toolkit
Advanced Signal Processing Toolkit
Digital Filter Design Toolkit
Device Drivers

With LabVIEW professional installed, you should have the application builder. Something that could happen is that you have activated for example LabVIEW full which doesn’t include it. To check this go to Start>>All Programs>> National Instruments License Manager. If you see the Professional Development system in green then you should be able to create DLL.

I think that the confusion here more than in what version you have is the place of the Build tool. With LabVIEW 8.2 and later to build executables and DLLs you have to do it through the project.  Here in build specifications you have to select new>> DLL.
