Hi,
Unfortunately, unlike VB or VC++, with their activeX controls, etc., there aren't very many "kool kustom kontrols" out there, at least that I have found. There have been a few posted on this forum, mostly folks use the control editor and place the graphics of their choice into them. Unfortunately, the result, unlike native LabVIEW controls, do not scale well. It is one of the persistent beefs that I have had with LabVIEW since day one (or in my case day 2.5.1).
In some of the SCADA (supervisory, control and data acquisition) packages used for process control the underlying control language is VB and in it you can create controls where you have access to the properties of the individual elements. Allowed me to make cool valves that changed appearance/color etc., for different states. It was done relatively easily, using paint (woo woo!). I have cried at night wanting to be able to make really cool LabVIEW controls, that scaled, had transparency, so that pics pasted into the control were seamless, etc. etc. Well maybe not cried, wimpered a little. Good Luck
There was a thread earlier today where one of the respondents posted a link to a thread about creating custom controls.
P.M.
