project explorer crash

hi,

I have a problem with Labview 8.0 project explorer it crashes when i start it. when i open an existing project file or when i create a new one. First of all i will explain my installation history. First i installed labview 7.1 and secondly labview 8.0 at this time all works fine. Then i didnt used 7.1  and unistalled it. Labview 8.0 still working fine. After that i realised that i still have to need 7.1 so i reinstalled again. I think that thats when the problem occured. Can someone help me...?

Hi Bart,

Have you tried repairing the LabVIEW 8 installation? This could be caused by some corrupted files or installation.

Do you get a dialog for investicating the error when you launch LabVIEW again?

Hope this helps,

Thanks

Hi,

I didnt get a dialog when i restart labview. I tried repairing and uninstalling and reinstalling 8.0, this disnt work either. As last resort I uninstalled all NI software en deleted the remaining NI folders manually. Then I restarted and installed all components again starting with 7.1 and then 8.0. Now it works again. 😄

Hi

Have had the same problem and got this from NI-support and it solved the problem

The solution in this case was having the customer upgrade from SP1 to SP2,

and that fixed his problem. Apparently, the service pack version affected

the NI Configuration Manager and the nidevldu processes. This, however, is

probably very computer specific.

If the previous steps do not fix the problem, you can try the following as

well:

- Fully un-install 'MXS' - by running installer located on LV8 CD ->

Bin/Products/MXS. (If it says 'higher version is installed' try DSC 8.0 CD

version instead, appears to be newer build).

- Delete the following files:

..\National Instruments\MAX\Data\*.* (All Files)

..\National Instruments\MAX\Data Fragments\niIMAQDD.mxf

..\National Instruments\MAX\nimax.ini

- Repair MAX via Control Panel

- Re-install MXS using same installer as above.

- Reboot your machine. Services should start up correctly and the LV8

Project should be running again.

Hi,

Solved it by moving nimax/data/*.* folder files into a zip for backup

Using MS configuration/add remove software/repare Labview nimax

After repare+boot the problem was gone.

During repare, installation asked for older device driver cd's but I canceled that request.

Hope someone can automate the process after a project/nimax crash?

Smiley Very Happy

Have program a realtime simulator for powerplants written in C++.I translates the RT sim to NI components and software (Labview).

My rt pxi turbine simulator for simulating grid incidents was succesfully used in a nuclear plant in 2006.
