project with packed library is loading slower

Hi,

I've replaced few labview libraries with packed libraries and now project is loading considerably slower. Is this behaviour expected? I am worried that when my project will grow bigger it will took a lot of time to load.

Hi Andrej,

I did not found information about loading time of packed libraries.

I checked these pages:

- PPT: https://forums.ni.com/t5/Nebraska-LabVIEW-User-Community/Packed-Libraries-ppt-and-example-code/td-p/...

- LabVIEW Help: https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/labview/page/using-packed-project-libraries-in-labview-projects...

I think it should be loaded faster or in the same time, because it is pre-built package. But this is my opinion.

How big is you project?

I suggest you to split up your lvlibp into smaller packages. If you have host-pc VIs and remote device VIs (like cRIO Real-Time) you should put the into separete packed libraries.

The packed libraries have a lot of advantages and benefits in big project, so you shouldn't be worried about difficulties. But it is again my opinion, I have never tested it in big projects.

Hi,

my project is not huge (~400 VIs).

I was hoping too that loading would be faster, but it is completely opposite in my case. And even switching between front panel and block diagram take 1-2 sec. But if I replace packed library with normal library, everything works as smooth.

Hi Andrej,

Could you send us the project? I can do some testing on it.

If you want to send it, please do not attach it on the forum but send it to techsupport@ni.com and put this to the subject:  (Reference#1051612)
