"C:\NI-RT\STARTUP\STARTUP.EXE" instead of "c:\ni-rt\startup\startup.exe"

Hi,
I successfully implemented an startup application on my FP-2000 (LV6.1Prof+RT,W2k). However it will only work if I change the paths in the options/misc to capital letters. ("c:\ni-rt\startup\startup.exe" to "C:\NI-RT\STARTUP\STARTUP.EXE")
The annoying part is, that I always have to retype the path. Is there a way to fix that?

Hello Henrik,

This should not be the case. With LabVIEW RT 6.1, the RT OS is capable of only 8.3 filenames, but should be case insensitive. I have tried the lower-case names here and had no problem.

You might try upgrading to version 3.0.2 of FieldPoint Explorer if you haven't already, and then re-installing the firmware on the RT module.

As an additional note, LabVIEW RT 7.0 no longer has the short filename restriction either, and this might help, but again, it shouldn't happen using version 6.1 either.

Jeff,

I already upgraded to 3.0.2 (and RT6.1.1) and yes,
"This should not be the case" and "it shouldn't happen"
However, I just verified it's still the case and it still happen.
Any ideas?

I work at NI Corporate in the US, and have not seen that behavior. It is possible, albeit unlikely, that this problem is specific to a localized (German) release of the software.

I would suggest going to ni.com/support and under option 2, selecting to e-mail NI about the problem. This will first get routed to your local support representatives, and they will try to reproduce the issue there. They will more likely have the exact same versions of the software.
