"Unable to view properties" Does someone knows how to fix it ?

Hello,

I am student, and during my internship I have to learn and use Labview.

I work on a Macbook (mac os X snow leopard 10.6.2).

I downloaded and install the latest version of Labview, in evaluation mode. At the beginning, everything worked very well, no problems  and one day (I don't know why it happens ...) I experienced this trouble.

When I create a new blank VI, on the block diagram, right click, Express< Signal Analysis < Tone measurement,

So I put this one on the block diagram, and I get this error : "Unable to view properties".

When I try to open properties window (by double clicking on it), it's the same error.

And I get the same errors for all Express modules (except "Simulate signal" and "Create histogram") but only for the express modules.

I had read some forums about this problem, I give you their links :

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&requireLogin=False&thread.id=189243

For the second link, I can't try this solution because I have not found my Config page ...

Thank You

(and sorry for my english)

The first thread you link to doesn't really apply to you. That would only apply if you're running LabVIEW Base, and the evaluation version isn't the Base edition.

The second thread also doesn't apply to you since that's talking about creating an Express VI, which requires a toolkit.

The third thread is the one that most likely applies to you. This situation has cropped up from time to time, and I don't think a solution has ever been found other than trying to do a "repair" on the LabVIEW installation, or doing a full-blown uninstall and then reinstall.

Thank You smercurio_fc !

I have the problem if I create a new blank VI, but I get it too if I open a VI.

I tried many reinstallation, but it doesn't fix the problem. I have any uninstaller program on the evaluation CD... or I have not found it.

Do you know where I can found an uninstaller program ?

Where are labview's files on the hard disk, to delete them. And I will reinstall labview after...

I think if I can do a clear uninstall, and later a re-install it may works, I guess.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Mac so I don't know about the specific process of uninstalling LabVIEW on a Mac with OSX. I think the LabVIEW ReadMe and Release Notes should have that information.

Yeah, I found any information in the Read Me document about uninstalling. But I found this on the web :

"To uninstall LabVIEW 2009, run the Uninstall.sh shell script file on the installation CD from a Terminal shell. The script prompts you to remove the files necessary to uninstall LabVIEW. If you want to keep any files you modified or added to the LabVIEW 2009 directory, save those files in another location before uninstalling LabVIEW 2009."

(at this location : http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371778e.pdf   )

The problems is that I have not the uninstall.sh file on the evaluation cd (I've done a research within it). I guess it's because it's a evaluation version...

I will ask my university to get their DVD, I have already their license number.

If someone who have a mac version can send me this file, it will be fix my problem.

Hello,

I have found here a post about the uninstallation of the LabVIEW 2009 Evaluation version:

Uninstalling LabVIEW2009 Evaluation for Mac OSX, etc.

The uninstaller.sh is at the end.

I hope this will help you.

Hello again,

After some research, I have found that your "Unable to view properties" problem when using LabVIEW 2009 Evaluation for Mac is known by our R&D. So, it should be fixed in the future. The workaround is to install the Full Development or Professional Development Environment.

Hello ! and Thank you !

I tried the uninstall.sh, I executed it in the terminal. I reboot after it, and I had re-installed Labview (again...) and it doesn't works.

Like you said, If the R&D knows the problem, I have just to wait for a fix.

My informatics staff have not the mac version, but they have a license number which covers mac version.

Do you know if I can download the mac version of the professional labview software on the website with my student license ?

Thank you both !

Hello!

Sorry for the late reply!

This was reported to R&D (# 191231) for further investigation. There is now a workaround available : download the attached evalvers.zip and place the contained evalvers.rsc in the resource directory of the LabVIEW install.

To answer your question, you can download the mac version of the professional LabVIEW and activate it with your student license if it a license for mac.
