nice trouble shooting.   I'm curious if dragging the WHOLE code out of the 4th quadrant and into another location w/ respect to the origin would have any effect.

I vaguley remember some BD bug related to the 4th quadrant on large diagrams but can't recall it for the love of wires

Moving to 3rd quadrant had no effect.

Was never able to identify the cause of this issue. Assume the file got corrupted somehow.  

I was able to get an archived version of the program off of our server, redo the edits I needed to make and get on with life. The void wire never manifest during the re-editing I did of the archived version.
