resource file installation failed

Please do.  I suppose you read my little disaster story?  😄

The issues can be very subtle, too.  Not at all easy to sort out.  Don't borrow trouble.

It's true, the link I send means that NI doesn't support this version on LabVIEW on this OS. It could be the cause or not. Test the installation with another resource could work but you're taking the risk of encounter other incompatibility problem. You can search on NI forum,  you will find dozen of subjects about version incompatibility.

Good Luck

The plot thickens.

We tried a more recent version 8.5.1 and that failed on the resource file installation step in the same fashion.  On top of that, we have these versions running on multiple win 7 machines in the office.  So the disks are fine (two different CDs), and at least from an install standpoint, not a win 7 problem.  Any idea what these resource files are, and where to get them?

Do you think I could copy the resource file directory from a good install and place in the appropriate spot on mine to get it to work?

That's about as far as I would go with T-shooting.  It's really rolling the dice to use an incompatible combination of LabVIEW and Windows.

I copied an 8.5 resource directory from antoher computer into the approriate spot on my win 7 machine, and it fired right up. I have no idea why my computer wouldn't decompress that spot for me.  Oh well, it now works great!
