rs-232 input board for scxi 1000 chassis

I want to record realtime rs-232 data from a gps serial line that is streaming data that will have to be decoded later. 9600 baud 8/N. I have a SCXI 1000 chassis with a 1102B module and a DAQ AO-16XE-50 card. What module do I need to do this or can I use the 1102B? How will this work with the Lab view 5.1.1 software?

Thanks

Hi Dick,

You are not going to be able to interface your serial gps device to SCXI. To use your GPS device, I would recommend interfacing it directly to the serial port of the PC or even better yet use a PXI-1010 or PXI-1011 combo chassis instead of a PC. These chassis combine an industrial computer and expansion slots in the PXI format along with slot for plugging in SCXI modules such as the 1102B. For more information please see:

I hope this helps. Good luck.
