run-time engine

As much as I love doing business with NI, they did it this time.
I loaded run time engine 8.0 on my main computer (I made an executable with Applications Builder on another one). After I installed, I rebouted the computer (as I have been asked) and...
"...missing or corrupted HAL.DLL"
It took me a whole day to revive my computer.
1)I had on that computer a LabView 8.0 Demo expired.
2)I had a copy of run-engine 7.x (I forgot about it)
3) After I revived my computer I tried (in safe mode) to remove LabView and components. It didn't work.
4)I was able to remove all of them just as I am writing this, and after removal, the NI uninstaller asks me to reboot the computer. My 24 hour work for nothing started with the same message from the NI installer...I don'tknow if I dare. As I remember , NI uninstaller is the only one asking to reboot after removing a program. Is there, around, a Wizard of Programming able to tell me if this is OK?

Hello,

Sorry to hear about that!  Do you have drivers installed by chance?  I'm not sure what's wrong, but uninstalling all NI software from that machine seems like a good idea in order to start fresh.  Attached is a document which will walk you through wiping references to NI softare from your machine, afterwhich I hope you'll have a fluid RTE installation and executable experience.

Repost if you continue to have trouble and I'll work with you to get back to a stable working state.

Best Regards,

JLS
