Do you know if you had 8.0.1 installed previously? And what do you mean by run-time 5? DAQ, or what?

What can happen is that some component of your installer is looking for some cache files that installed with an older version (like an older MAX or something). Now they're not there and it's confused. Normally it warns you and asks where the caches are.

Sorry Jeff, I was on travel so I didn't get a chance to respond til now.  I didn't have 8.0.1 installed but I have uninstalled that just in case it was causing issues.  As for Runtime 5, it is an option I see when I click on NI-Daqmx 8.9.5 in the additional installer.  At the top right hand corner there is an option for Install type to do either Full or Runtime 1 thru 5, and each option seems to install different options of NI-Daqmx 8.9.5.  Here is the option text for the Runtime 5 option:

"NI-DAQmx, the next-generation NI-DAQ driver with new VIs/functions and development tools for programming your measurement devices, has new features and advantages over Traditional NI-DAQ.

This distribution contains all
the features in the full NI-DAQmx version except for ADE support for LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio, the DAQ Assistant, the NI-DAQmx documentation, Real-Time Support, and MAX."

This seems to work and I don't get any errors.

Hi again,

I'd be interested in finding out up to which number works. That way we can isolate which component of DAQmx actually is corrupted or confused.

You'll note in this other forum thread (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=290101&requireLogin=False) that it appears there is some component that is corrupted or no longer exists from your previous installation of DAQmx. If you still have the disks from back then maybe it's worth a shot copying the files to your hard drive.

I will find some time to go through each option and see which one works and which doesn't.  As for the full install, I was thinking of finding a computer with no installation of Labview and just loading Labview 2009 and see if I can create an installer.  If I don't get any errors then we can assume it is an issue with previous versions conflicting.
