sbRIO not booting up

Solved!
Go to solution

I've got the sbRIO and when I turn it on the power LED flashes twice, then momentarily turns on with the status LED on but the repeats this process. I've checked the power supply and nothing is wrong, powering with 24V DC.

Here's a link to the video of what happens when I power the sbRIO on. Please save it and view it https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/miqbal/web/Video0031.3gp

I'm worried as this is not my board, please reply ASAP.

First of all just for reference if you mark a post as solved, its very unlikely that anyone will read it because they assume you don't need help any more.  Also, by bumping your post, you're likely to annoy people, so again they are unlikely to post help to you.  You just have to be patient and wait for someone to get to your post.  An hour and a half is not a very long time when it comes to discussion forums.  If it is urgent, you can contact NI Technical support by phone and someone will be available to answer your call immediately.

That being said, it seems that your controller is unconfigured.  Have you tried reformatting your sbRIO and reinstalling the software via MAX?

I had solved this by reading the manual so I marked it as solved. Sorry for the bump, I guess it was a consequence of being worried that I may have fried a +1000 dollar board.

Hi Mahir,

I've never seen a Single-Board RIO Power LED blink like that.   What did you find to be the issue?

Thanks,

Hi Mahir,

I'm glad to hear you solved the problem.  Can you reply with what you did to fix it here for customers who may experience this in the future?

Thanks

It turned out I inadvertently lowered the current delivered to the sbRIO to 200 mA while I was hooking it up to my power supply. It was an embarassing mistake, which led me to double check the power requirements of the sbRIO. Hope that helps anyone who is foolish enough not to read the data sheet for the sbRIO.
