sending separate commands to a standalone executable and getting results back

12 years ago there was no 64 bit LabVIEW.  Windows 7 wouldn't have been released until 4 years after Jim posted code here, so I'm not surprised it doesn't work.

Have you tried using LabVIEW 32 bit?  I assume the WOW emulation supports 32 bit consoles so I would assume that would work.  The general consensus of LabVIEW 64 bit is there still isn't 100% compatibility between all the various toolkits, so 64 bit LabVIEW is avoided because you'll be forced to use a subset of the tools available to you.  That is unless you know all your toolkits are 64 bit, and you will see an increase in performance with the additional memory allocation.  You might also find an updated pipes library but I still don't think it will add 64 bit support.

Yes, that has been working fine for years on our test system using LabVIEW 32-bit. I'm now in the process of making major changes of the platform and pushing to go with 64-bit if all possible. I've verified the compatibility with 64-bit of pretty much everything till I saw this one days ago which gave me broken vis while trying in 64-bit.

Still wish to get the update of 64-bit support which I believe will be beneficial for others as a long term solution.
