Did you mean:

server does not support remote panels, server overwhelmed

What concerns me is the problem appears on multiple computers.  With a single machine, it is usually easier to debug.  With multiple machines, I would lean towards a traffic issue.  That's why I'm asking about the network.  Anything on the network will take away bandwidth the server could be using to communicate.

Do you control this network or is there an IT that controls it?

All of the IT falls on me.  We're a small (<10 employees) company with somewhat minimal IT needs.

Here's our setup:  Our main T1 connection goes through a router and into a 18 port ethernet switch.  Everything (computers, printers, etc.) except our NI equipment is fed directly from here; however, all the lines going to NI hardware are first fed through a HUB.  In a secondary building where we have a couple of NI module banks, there is no HUB as it wasn't needed in the initial setup.  To my knowledge these modules are newer models than that of those in the main building.  Unnecessarily convoluted much???

I know this isn't the most efficient way to carry data, its just how it was set up years ago before I worked here.  At the time (maybe 15 years ago?), the guy that did my job, found this to be the only way to have successful communication between hardware.  It worked but nobody really knew why.  Fast forward 15 years and here we are!

As far as bandwidth consumption, there really shouldn't be anything on our network that is eating it all up.

I changed the debugging port yesterday in hopes that it will resolve the issue.  Haven't had the error yet, but, we've gone about week before without seeing it.

Thanks for your help.

If it isn't too late to continue with this discussion, i'd like to revisit this issue as the frequency is still occuring at almost every other day rates.  I'd be happy to reopen a new discussion for more exposure if necessary.

This issue does happen on any computer trying to connect to the remote VIs from our main server once the server has thrown the error.  I agree that it is most likely a networking issue since it happens on multiple devices.  Any chance it could be an issue with the NI Web Server on the hosting machine?  I've tried to increase "workers" on the web server configuration file in hopes it would resolve the issue.  This didn't work.

I'd be happy to provide any additional information or screen shots upon request.  Thanks to any responses in advance.

Hey rkotrol,

I think making a new thread is going to be your best option, like you were thinking. You can certainly link back to this thread to give some context. You should probably still put the pertinent information in the first post when you make a new thread, so people are more likely to see it.

Include LabVIEW version, O/S, the hardware you have connected, just a general summary of the troubleshooting you already went through in this discussion; that’ll provide the best foundation for your new discussion. Might not be necessary, but if you can get a screenshot of that “server doesn’t support remote panels” error, it certainly wouldn’t hurt. Good luck with your issue!

Respectfully,

Cason
