Yep, I hope there is never a need to run the repair again. I tried that once and it wouldn't even run all the way through. I had to uninstall and reinstall everything. I've had tech support ask me to do this a couple of times since, but I have avoided this so far.
I wonder if just uninstalling 2015 would bring the SVE back online? Stranger things have happened...

I sincerely doubt it. What I believe is happening (based on several days of "experimentation" about 3-4 years ago) is that at some step in the installation process, a Service (such as the Variable Engine service) is updated, so it is first stopped, removed, but somehow not "registered" or whatever "magic" has to happen for Windows to "see" it.
I further suspect that installations that say "You must restart your machine to complete the installation" include these situations of replaced services. I think while it might be easy to stop and remove a Service while Windows is running, getting one fully "hooked in" and started may need to be done as part of Windows' initialization process. Indeed, when I first ran into this issue, I was installing the earliest version of LabVIEW (2011?) that had the "Setup" utility on DVD1 and asked you to "choose everything you want to install". Sure enough, after one step, a Service was stopped, and subsequent steps never restarted it, nor did the final Restart. The "fix", I discovered, was to install a single component at a time, with a reboot between every step -- this got the deleted Services back.
For this reason, when NI suggested a Repair on my multi-version NI Platform (and I didn't realize how many DVDs would be involved), I figured it couldn't be that bad (and, in truth, it wasn't, just tedious and a little frustrating ...). In this case, however, I want to "turf to NI" and let them chew on it, at least to confirm my observation and examples that it is a bug.

Hi Bob, thank you for all your inputs.
following yours and Patric's comments. I have next from my current setup:
- NI shared variable engine service (verifyed and is running)
- My PC is almost up to date within requiremented (i7, 16Gb RAM, 500Gb SSD)
- Running Windos 7
One thing I noticed, I have installed two version from Labview, I have and old version of 8.6 and the latest one intalled is 2013., so I may need to
remove old version (8.6) and try again?
Thank you all.

Javier,
Are you in the US? If you have the Variable Engine Service running, then you should be able to run your code, maybe with a little "hand-holding over the telephone". You can send me a Private Message over the Forums with your phone number, and I'll give you a call so we can walk through this together.
I am able to run your code on LabVIEW 2015 when the Variable Engine service is installed. So before you start uninstalling anything, let's consider talking by phone.

Bob,
Here is a link to install a service from the command line. That might lead you to the Holy Grail.

Javier,
With the SVE verified as running do you still have the same sequence as before?

I'm extremely reluctant to manually try to install a Service that NI has failed to install as part of LabVIEW installation. I've already asked NI to research the problem and suggest a fix -- I'd rather trust them than take a chance on ruining my Development System!

Can you build a small project in 8.6 to test the shared variables to see if the results are the same?
