shift register

How place a shift register if the loop is wider than the screen

(it's not possible to scroll the screen with the "shift-register cursor")

(sorry for my bad english, i do my best)

You don't need to aim and click to add the other end of a shift register. Just left click anywhere to add the SR. I think right click cancels the operation.

Simply place an empty shift register and hook up the wires later. It will place both sides and there is no need to scroll.

(You only need to scroll if you try to convert an existing tunnel to a shift register AND there are existing tunnels on the other side AND you want to convert one of them.)

(I don't know if ther is a way to scroll, but is should be extremely rare to have loops wider than the screen. It is against all design guidelines. Are you programming on a netbook with a tiny screen resolution?)

yes, i need to aim and click to convert a node to shift-register

as said altenback ... "You only need to scroll if you try to convert an existing tunnel to a shift register"

Are you programming on a netbook with a tiny screen resolution ? Smiley Very Happy

I know that and I agree.

Thank you for this solution altenbach, ok, it works ...

but that said, it's an "half-solution" ... it would be nice to be able to scroll with the shift-register-cursor

Why are we able to scroll the screen with all cursors of labview, and not with the SR-cursor (??)

(this cursor is the only one with which it is not possible to scroll the screen)

this behavior is somewhat inconsistent

I agree. You could mention this in our monthly bug thread here. Make sure to include a link to this discussion.

Hi ouadji,

I was looking into this with the intention of filing a corrective action request if the behaviour is inconsistent.

However, when placing any object (that I have tested) within LabVIEW - shift registers, functions, SubVIs, wires - the ability to scroll is disabled.  You can scroll with other cursors (paint brush, breakpoint, probe) although I would be inclinded to say these are distinct from object placement.

Let me know if this is the same behaviour as you see on your machine.  You can always submit to the idea exchange to enable scrolling during object placement Smiley Happy

I think scrolling should always be possible. I hate limitations. 😄
